Originally from Mexico, I came to the United States with my family in 2000 after having been an aerobics instructor for 5 years. That same year, I met Beto Perez and I discovered my passion for Zumba®, a passion that had a huge impact in my life.
I began teaching Latin Impact classes at Coral Springs L.A. Fitness before Zumba® was even recognized in the area. Because I knew I could make a much bigger impact, I introduced a Zumba® style class to the gym. Not before long, the class was packed, often with more than 100 people and quickly became the most attended class at the gym.
Given the popularity, I soon began teaching Zumba® at other gyms around North Broward and Boca Raton, and that's how I met Dolores. She was one of my students in Boca, and quickly we became very good friends. Her incredible talent to pick up anything she puts her mind to and her warm personality drew me closer to her. Then she became a Zumba® instructor, so I knew we were going to hit it off.
I can happily say that I have found so many wonderful people thanks to Zumba®, many of whom were my friends and students and have now become amazing and incredible Zumba® instructors.
I have also done numerous Zumba® master classes with Dolores and other colleagues, many of them to raise money for good causes.
Teaching Zumba® gives me the opportunity to meet new people. It makes me happy to help them achieve their fitness goals by working out in a fun that makes them happy as well. My students are like my family and I love to share Zumba® with them throughout the week.

I am a native of New York. I stroked the lamp and wished for a house, and in 2003, after my husband Toby retired from the New York City school system, we moved to Florida.
While in New York, I was involved in taking fitness classes, and so one of the first things I did upon arriving in Florida was to join a gym. I started taking classes, mainly step aerobics and aqua aerobics, and someone suggested that I try the Latin Impact class. Having no dance background, and knowing nothing about Latin music, I walked into the class not knowing what to expect. Miriam was the instructor, and my first impression was her love for what she was doing and for the music. Within a couple of classes, I was hooked. Little by little, Zumba® Fitness classes became my first choice in fitness classes.
I was taking so many classes; Toby suggested that I become an instructor. In 2007, I took his suggestion. Within a year of becoming licensed to teach Zumba® Fitness, I got my group fitness certification with AFAA.
Miriam has been one of my mentors since I became an instructor and I now consider her my Zumba® Mama and a very good friend. She has assisted in getting me classes and we have done a number of master classes together. When LA Fitness altered their Latin Impact classes, we left and relocated to Coral Springs Academy of Dance, where we both hold Zumba® Fitness Classes.
I have inherited from Miriam the passion for all things Latin and look forward to sharing it with anyone who wants to take classes with me.
